We are pleased to announce that we have come to a new lease agreement with Lotawana Restaurant Development LLC. The owner/operators of the new tenant are Roger Accurso and Lance McFarland, both residents of our community. Lance has been working at the restaurant for over 15 years and has 19 years of restaurant experience overall. Roger has a long and successful history in the food service industry. In our search for new tenants, we had several goals in mind. Continuity and experience were important factors. Also, we were looking for a partner who had a business plan that was going to be beneficial to our members. We felt it was important to have a group that offered expanded hours and more diverse menu options while maintaining a peaceful atmosphere in the neighborhood. They plan to continue to offer fine dining as before yet will have more affordable lunch options and will introduce a “dock side to go” menu for our lake residents to enjoy during boating season. They also plan to bring back the Sunday “seafood brunch” during the season and have agreed to allow us to expand the hours of operation for the gas pumps. The new group plans to spend the next three months doing extensive remodeling on the interior of the restaurant (at no expense the members) and reopen sometime in April. Although many hours were spent in discussions, a big goal was to get a new tenant in place quickly so that they could be up and running by spring and be able to retain as much of the current staff as possible.
We have some staff announcements at the Association to make as well. Laura Smyser has retired as Office Manager effective January 31st. While she will be greatly missed, we wish her the best in her new life. Marilee Magerkurth will be filling Laura’s shoes as our new Office Manager. Please join us in congratulating both of them in these exciting new chapters of their lives.
