8/8/18 – Association News

As I write this column, three of the four “major boating holidays” for our Lake are in the rear-view mirror.  We’ve finally got almost all the damage from the tornado cleaned up and things are starting to get back to normal (if there is such a thing as normal) at the Association.  Our new excavator barge has been delivered and we should have it equipped by the time you read this.  The new push barge and the haul barge will be launched and preliminary work on the harbor should be under way.  Progress on the spillway and dam road project is moving along quite nicely.  Also, with a little bit of luck, we will be dredging along the east side by the time you read this.  To be honest, we had hoped to be further along with all of the above projects, but when Mother Nature decides to throw a wrench into your plans, you just gotta go with it.  As the old saying goes; “man makes plans and God laughs.”  One final thing needs to be said about the tornado and the resulting clean-up efforts.  The staff and I have been truly blessed by the words of appreciation we’ve received from the membership.  We’re lucky to have such a fine group of talented and dedicated people.  I’m really proud of the way the community came together.  A big “Thank you” to all the folks at City Hall, the LLPD and Lotawana Fire for their efforts as well.
