IMPORTANT INFORMATION ABOUT THE BARBER QUARRY – Resumption, extension, and expansion of quarry operations
The quarry at the lake has been dormant for years. Under existing agreements, quarry operations are to completely end in 2029, absent further negotiations and agreements with the city and the community of Lake Lotawana. We have recently learned that a new operator for the quarry, Hamm, Inc., is seeking permission from the State of Missouri to continue operations for an additional fifty years—to 2077—with the possibility of a much larger quarry operation footprint than is there now. Possible plans could include allowing for expansion of operations north of Langsford Road and east of 7 Highway, bringing quarry operations much closer to our residential community.
