Notes from the President- February 7th Edition

Did you know, the even-numbered district director elections will be held this year. The office mailed out Ballots to the designated voter living in even districts.  The ballots list all the designated voters in the district who are eligible to serve as directors.  Please select your choice and return it to the office prior to the March Annual meeting.  If not sure who your current director is you can contact the office.  We encourage directors who would like to be reelected to communicate with their constituents.

Dues and Fees – one of the hardest parts of being an HOA is collecting annual dues and fees.  In the past when we invoiced everything separately, it was spread out and especially for watercraft registrations and renewals could drag out into the summer for many.  This year dues and fees were combined into a single invoice.  Also, we will be issuing Forever stickers and less paperwork for renewals.  The goal is to make it less cumbersome to pay and reduce workload in the HOA office.  Our request in return is timely payment and pickup of stickers.

FYI, as of the time of this article we collected around 33% of our dues and fees versus 38% this time last year.  A reminder that all dues and fees are due before March 1st and that interest will start to accrue on overdue accounts after that.  Also, according to the LLA Rules and Regulations your registration stickers cannot be issued until full payment.  This means you run the risk of citation(s) that could cost you points or a fine and in the worst case a suspension from the lake.

Registration, Storage and Permit Stickers – during the month of February the office will start packaging the decals for those members who have paid their dues and fee invoices.

Also, this year we are asking everyone to sign the boat and golf cart registration forms to confirm terms and mooring.  In the fall of 2025 you can expect like Jackson County does with property, a summary list that when confirmed that will be used to establish your 2026 invoice along with auto-renewal.  If anyone needs another copy of a registration form the office can email upon request.

Low Water Crossing – during the last week of January our contractor for this project performed what they call Potholing also known as daylighting.  This procedure involves digging small holes to locate underground utilities.  The goal of this step is to locate the water and gas lines more specifically so that we can work to expedite Spire’s efforts on any relocation required.

Caterpillar Cab Enclosure – the operations crew working with John Cofaul installed a clear enclosure around the cab that uses magnets to be held in place.  Since the dozer has a heating system, the goal is to block wind and enable our crew to operate in colder temperatures extending our time frame going forward for digging dirt from the Silt Basins.  We need every day we can each year with the magnitude of dirt removal being planned.

Courtesy Reminders – The Annual Meeting will be held Tuesday, March 11 at 7:30 pm at the Church of Jesus Christ inside gate 2.  Please mark your calendars and plan to attend.

If you have questions or topics, you would like discussed regarding the Association, please feel free to drop me a note at [email protected].
