This article focuses on key project updates as 2025 races along. The Office and Operations staff have hit the pavement running. As we will look back at 2024 in the March Annual Meeting with review of accomplishments and spending, you will see how forward planning is starting to take hold with the 2025 work.
New Gate 1 Lot Building Update – early February the Operations crew completed the demolition of the Water Patrol office and Operations sheds. The office filed for the building permit with the City of Lotawana as the crew is working to prepare the site pad. Once the permit is issued, the contractor will begin building footings, transition walls and concrete floor slab.
Building Plan and Pictures:
Forever Stickers – this will be our first year of issuing registered watercraft, golf carts and property with a storage agreement for a Forever sticker. The office will have sticker packages for those members in good standing for pickup at the March Annual Meeting. Once you receive your Forever sticker package, please place them on your property as soon as possible. Do not leave them in a drawer and run the risk of points and/or a fine due to a violation of not having a sticker on your property. If you lose your sticker, there is a $100 charge for power boats and PWCs and $50 for sailboats and non-power vessels moored outside the perimeter of a dock to secure mooring. This is actual cost for the stickers.
Low Water Crossing – I am excited to inform you that we have a commitment from Spire to relocate their gas lines to start in the March time frame. We are working with ICON, our contractor, scheduling work in parallel where possible and completing the project as soon as the utilities are relocated.
Stafford Field Plan – you have heard about this plan for many months, and I would like to announce we have posted on the Lotawana Association website the final plan for the property. This plan was created with the help of Allstate Consultants, Department of Conservation and Bee Habitat Society. This is a multi-prong approach to bringing back native plants and supporting nature. Also, the plan includes a map with use definitions to provide a guide on proper planting to ensure we enable the uses planned.
I will throw out to the community that once we establish the Bee Habitat plantings it may be fun to have a community beehive. If we have any bee enthusiasts, let me know as it would be great to make this part of the long-term results.
Courtesy Reminders – 2025 invoices are all due by February 28, 2025. If you would like to set up a payment plan, please contact Marilee at the office. March 11th is our Annual Meeting, and the office will have sticker packets at the meeting for those who paid and turned in forms.
