Our committee wants all Lake Lotawana owners to be very aware of two very dangerous chemicals in some pesticides that companies might use when they spray your yards (particularly around drainage areas that go directly into the lake), your sea wall area, and your dock structures! These two chemicals, Bifenthrin and BMAXX kill aquatic life – fish, mussels, snails, etc. Please ask the company that you are considering spraying these areas to make sure they are not using those two chemicals!!!!!
For the last few years the Missouri Department of Conservation Fisheries Biologist have recommended that we put walleye and hybrid bass into our lake to help control the huge population of gizzard shad. Please, if you catch either of these fish release them back into the lake. We have spent several thousand dollars to get the shad population under control. We would appreciate your assistance in both of the above issues!
