Fireworks are on, AND very important info for the rest of the day

Members – the forecast continues to improve, and the lake recedes at a rate that will allow us to continue with the Fireworks Show tonight. The lake will reopen at 5:00 p.m. with no wake, idle only, cruise around the lake at nighttime rules.  NO tubing, skiing, wake boarding, surfing, jet skis, wave runners, or other similar activity. Kayaks, and paddle boards are ok now, but again there is debris in the water and potential lingering contamination.

The Dam closes at 4:00 p.m. to all traffic for the fireworks provider to set up. The dam road will not reopen until arond 2:00 a.m. after cleaning up. The plan is to start the show between 9:30 and 9:45.

The water patrol is on duty and will enforce NO boats on the water until 5:00 p.m., then shift to no wake cruising only.
If you see debris or property in the lake floating, please secure if you can and notify the LLA Office tomorrow morning of the material/property and location. The operations crew will go around the lake to collect logs, etc. early next week.  Our collection barge is still full from the last rain cycle and road clean up with only a skeleton crew tomorrow.

If you come in Gate 2 the road is partially closed due to the tree that took out the power lines the other night putting us all in the dark. This will also be cleaned up on Monday as we are back to full staff.

The low water crossing between Gates 3 & 4 is closed indefinitely.  We have road surface break up there and the culverts need to be checked for safety prior to reopening.

Swimming in the lake is to be considered at your own risk. The LLA and City testing around Sunrise and Sunset Bay have seen both normal and above normal readings. If you are in a cove and the geese & ducks tend to congregate in your area or docks, there can be a higher chance of localized contamination.

Last, the spillway is very dangerous and while cool to look at, please be aware of the high risk. The chain and lock were found broken this morning and will be replaced.

Thank you to all who are helping neighbors with damage, clean up, property rescue, etc.  Also, thank you for respecting the Lake Closed status.  These situations are where the lake community shines.
Happy 4th of July!
