A Note From the President – April 2024 Part 2

Officers and Chairpersons

At the April Board of Directors meeting, we welcomed six new board members.  It is great to see new faces volunteering for the board as the directors are your voices and key to the running of the Association.

  • District 5 – Tom Croker
  • District 9 – Cameron Smith
  • District 15 – Susan Troester
  • District 27 – Nick Calkins
  • District 29 – Doug Martin
  • District 35 – Steve Wolf

Also, the slate of officers recommended by the nominations committee was approved as well as the chairman for the various boards and committees that we update every year.  The officers are a one-year term and as the returning President, I’d like to thank in advance each of the officers for the extra time they give each month above the board meeting.

  • President – Jeff Clemow
  • Vice President – Kyle Twenter
  • Treasurer – Jeff Moore
  • Secretary – Amy McVay
  • Sgt of Arms – Mike Miller

The Standing Sub-Board and Committee Chairperson were selected and, like the officers, give up extra time each month for their meetings.  In the case of the Roads, Rules, Environment and Ways-Means Chairs they give up an additional evening for the Executive Board meeting.  In many cases they also put in extra time beyond the meetings to due research, work with contractors and in the case of Dave Williams spend time on the lake managing wildlife.

  • Ways and Means – Nancy Myers
  • Rules – David Cooley
  • Roads – Tim Gravlin
  • Environment – Dave Williams

A special thanks in advance to all the members that serve on the various boards and committees as they too (not all directors) volunteer their time to participate in the managing of the Association

Please reach out and get to know your district director and discuss your thoughts about the lake community.  It is always good to provide your input, so each director knows what is important to each member as we make decisions on the future.

New Communication Format

Hopefully by now you’ve noticed the notices coming out with a new look and feel from the office.  Thank you to Courtney Fleenor, one of our newest office staff who created that new look and will be providing support on the communication front.  Along with our Text platform this will help us keep members informed of key milestones, activities, emergencies and other activity each and every month.

Storage Lot Auction

We have selected June 8th for the Auction of Abandoned Property (mostly trailers).  Over the next two months we will be staging all the property to the front of the storage lot and in May begin the 2024 sticker application.  Mark your calendar if you are interested as new information will come out from the Association with the details as we get closer.

If you have not yet sent in your 2024 Storage Lot Agreement form, please do so ASAP.  If we don’t have the updated signed form (even if fee paid) a new sticker will not be placed on your property.  Eventually we will start issuing points for any property without Lot / Block numbers and Stickers, which we hate to do, but is our only means of driving compliance.

Dredge and Silt Basin Update

We have hired a new employee that will operate the dredge and as a heavy equipment mechanic / operator play a major role in maintaining our equipment and giving the operations crew another hand in operating the big equipment at the Silt Basins.  Please welcome Larry Haight who comes to us from Hertz Heavy Equipment Rental.

If you get a chance to walk the Keller Property (north of Martin Property) you’ll note a lot of continued activity clearing the trees and brush.  We will be setting up burn piles and eventually having some bonfires.  Especially for those neighbors, we will have water for safety setup from the west basin and coordinate with the Fire Department.  A notice will go out to the members in advance of the burn.

Water Patrol

The new water patrol boats continue to be prepped by John Coufal and Chris has begun the hiring process.  You may have already noticed the patrol on the lake as we begin new hire training.  With the great weather the boat activity on the lake has already swelled, so having the patrol out training was good timing.

Boat Registration Stickers

A friendly reminder to get your boat stickers on all water craft (boats, sailboats, kayaks, paddle board, PWC, etc.) before using on the lake.  Make sure your Lot/Blk numbers are applied as well.  If you are not sure where to place the sticker or numbers refer to the Rules and Regulations where you’ll find drawings for placement.  I’ve already noticed boats on the lake without Lot/Blk numbers, so I know there is work to be done!

Dock Plates

Along with the Boat and Storage stickers, make sure your dock plate is still in place and you have your Lot/Blk on the structure.  This is how we keep track of all the property on the lake, so very crucial for the staff to see this identification in place as required by the Rules and Regulations.  Again, don’t get points for simple administrative steps each year.  Our enforcement can be impactful with your use of the lake.

As always, please keep the feedback loop going!!

Sincerely,

Jeff Clemow
President
