6/5/21 – Association News

Thank you to everyone who enjoyed the Memorial Day weekend at the Lake, despite the weather. The Kayak event was a complete success! Mr. DeCombes and his assistants were out in full force helping to keep our lake safe. I also want to thank them for pulling 4 floating steel barrels from the lake in the K block area. The source of those hazards will be found and addressed as quickly as possible.

As many of you have seen, dredging in Big Rock cove is in full swing with the long-arm excavator. That machine was necessary to remove silt from the very back of the cove since it is not possible for the dredging machine to reach the far-reaches of that cove. There is no doubt that a mess was created on the parkway with the silt and debris. If the rain ever stops, we will wait for the materials to partially dry out and then remove them to another location. While on the subject of dredging, we have scheduled a crane and trucking firm to move the dredge from the maintenance shop into the lake in mid-June barring any unforeseen circumstances. It will then head to Big Rock to begin the silt removal process.

Work is moving forward on the parking lots at Marina 27. A majority of the money being spent on adding additional drainage to the third-tier lot, repairing and resealing the first-tier lot and striping all three lots is from monies allocated out of last year’s budget. For those of you that travel by the parking lots at Marina 27, you can see that the crowds are pretty constant at the restaurant, which bodes well for us financially. Thank you for your continued support of our ownership of the real estate and the financial opportunity it has afforded us as an Association.

We are still awaiting the results of the fishery study, as well as the study for the roads, culverts, guardrails and signs. I hope we see them in the next few months.

There is so much to do and so little time to accomplish them. However, as a team we will get it done. Some of the things occupying our minds are a continued focus on safety, next year’s budget, a comprehensive look and plan for dredging, roads repair and reconstruction, culvert replacement, the proper sizing of our operations personnel, rules changes, security and access, how to timely respond to all of the requests we get with the existing operations crew size, just to name a few. It is hard to believe that I have been on board for almost 7 months now. It is an honor and a pleasure to serve each one of you and I promise to try harder each day.
