4/14/21 – Association News

I trust everyone enjoyed the past couple of weekends, whether it was celebrating Passover, Christians observing the Easter weekend or any other religious celebrations. It was certainly nice weather for safe and joyous family gatherings. It is also exciting to see Covid-19 in our rearview mirror.

Now that spring has arrived, and day-light savings is in place, how wonderful it is to still have light at 7:30 in the evening. With spring also comes changes and events around the lake. One change you will notice is the construction progress of relocating the fuel tank at the marina.

The existing fuel tank is showing its age and the payment process is outdated. It is also located immediately adjacent to Marina 27, which in not optimal. Thus, the Board of Directors approved funds to relocate the tank next to the boat ramp. The new concrete foundation has been poured and the new fuel tank was set in place. We are now waiting for the specialty subcontractor to pipe and wire the new tank facility, as well as help replace the fuel dispenser so that it is compliant with new regulations.

Several members have asked when the facility will be open for business. Right now, the plan is to open the existing fuel facility within the next week. However, when the time comes to do the switch over to the new tank and pump, fuel will be unavailable for about one week. Thank you in advance for your cooperation.

The spring cleaning is scheduled for April 24 and 25. You may take your brush and tree trunks (cut to 4-foot lengths or less) from your lake property to the Martin property for disposal. There will also be multiple dumpsters at the patrol office, across the street from Marina 27 restaurant, for disposal of items from your clean-up effort.

New Officers will be elected at the April Board of Directors meeting. In addition, the Board has 5 new Directors. We also have had a good response from individuals wanting to get involved in helping the Board in its multi-faceted tasks of governing the lake.

Thanks goes out to the operations crew for performing the spring crack-filling of our roads. Scott and I had the pleasure of assisting the crew in that effort since one of our crew members was attending to a family emergency. It is a slow and tedious process to literally walk the entire 17-mile plus road system of the lake and fill cracks in the road with liquid asphalt. One benefit of helping the crew is that I far exceeded my 11,000-step daily goal. Another benefit is understanding why it is the crew’s least favorite task to perform on an annual basis.

We are available to call at 816.578.4272 if you have any questions or concerns. I am also available at 913.305.7181 or email me at [email protected]. Be safe! Harold
