3/24/21 – Association News

The Association Annual Meeting was held on the evening of March 9th. 100+ people attended the meeting via Zoom. Approximately 24 questions were asked and addressed during the meeting. We appreciate all of the support that was expressed during the meeting and the very kind words about the presentation afterwards. The team strives every day to become better at serving your needs, while at the same time serving the Association’s best interests as a whole.

Another Association employee has stepped forward to share their thoughts. Scott Johnson is our Inspector and Compliance Officer and shares the following:

Harold has asked the office staff to write something about themselves to add to his article.  It is my turn this time.  My name is Scott Johnson, and I was hired last year as the inspector to assist in the Lake Improvement Board (LIB) process, construction permits and complete new boat inspections.

I have lived fulltime at the lake since 2009 and grown to love this community.  I enjoy fishing and usually participate in the Buddy Bass Tournament. Fishing has helped me learn a lot about the lake and its shoreline, which has come very helpful in this position. I already have meet so many people around the lake that I might never would have meet if it were not for this position. I look forward to meeting more of you in the future.

I love having family and friends over, hanging out on the dock, coving out at Goat Hill. I feel fortunate that I have a great group of neighbors who look out for each other and will help with anything if needed.  We are not just neighbors, we are friends.

Basically, what it comes down to is, we are here for the same reason “The Lake”.  I can honestly say that I feel honored to be given the opportunity to help preserve the lake, the land, and serve the people of this community.  I want to Thank all the Association employees, office staff, operations crew, and even Ron for being awesome people to work with.  I want to thank Harold for giving me the chance and thank my wife for supporting me on this adventure.

Finally, Mike Gossman, one of my best friends and who has a place on the lake sent me a photo of Monday evening’s storm. The following photo was taken by Jami Nato and sums up perfectly what Lake Lotawana is and exemplifies.

We are available to call at 816.578.4272 if you have any questions or concerns. I am also available at 913.305.7181 or email me at haroldmitts@lakelotawana.net. Be safe! Harold
