11/23/22 – Association News

HAPPY THANKSGIVING from the entire Lake Lotawana Association team. We wish you, your family and friends a joyous and relaxing holiday.

The 2023 proposed budget passed at the November 8th meeting. There were 1,995 ballots sent out to the membership and 657 were returned. Approximately 95 members attended the meeting. As with any election your vote matters! If you did not take the opportunity to vote, please consider doing so in the future. If you did vote, thank you very much for taking the time to consider the financial aspects of the Association and the services it provides to the membership.

The Association office will be closed on Saturday during the Thanksgiving Holiday weekend, as well as the remaining Saturdays in 2022. If you have any questions, please contact the office for further information. Remember that volunteers who provide codes to the boat ramp, storage lot and/or access to the Martin property are listed on the Association website or in the Lotawana news.

During the winter months if there are any issues related to the roads, lake, animals in the lake or similar matters please call the office. If no one answers, please call me at the number listed below.

I am going to start sharing the DID YOU KNOW information in most future articles. We hope this information is helpful and helps guide you in your future plans here at the lake.

DID YOU KNOW: It is sometimes confusing to members that the Association and City are two separate entities, and both have jurisdiction over what you do. This is particularly important when it comes to construction projects. In many situations you will need a permit from BOTH the City and the Association. However, the Association is responsible for the lake, dam, roads, ditches and common areas. The City also provides certain police services within the Association through a written agreement between the parties. If you have any questions, please call us at the office for answers to any related questions you may have.

Please call 816.578.4272 if we can be of help to you or answer your question(s). I also can be reached at 913.305.7181 or email me at haroldmitts@lakelotawana.net. Continue to be safe! Harold
