1/26/22 – Association News

The new year is in full swing here at the lake for the Association. We have reviewed the silt pond locations and their condition to determine where we will be dredging this spring. Annual dues statements have been sent out with many of them already being paid. Thank you very much. The dock and informational forms have been distributed so please return those to the office at your earliest convenience. The next undertaking for the office is sending out the March director ballots, boat registration forms, and preparing for the annual audit of the books and financials of the organization. Dredge maintenance is also ongoing. John hopes to have those tasks completed within the next 30 days. Of course, the snow plowing crew continues to come in at wee hours in the morning to plow and treat our roads during snowstorms.

The monthly allotment of cases for the Lake Improvement Board continues to be full. If you are planning to perform any work this year on the Parkway, Pathways or work such as seawall repair and replacement please make sure you submit your application well in advance to allow for the Lake Improvement process.

The other projects we are working on include a membership survey, study of the possibility of installing a test silt retention pond (a pond built at inlets to the lake to catch silt before it enters the lake), capital needs planning, completion of the mini-excavator project, roadway mowing initiative, roadway and culvert improvements and many more initiatives to continue to improve the lake community for its membership.

As always, please call 816.578.4272 if we can assist you with membership needs. I also can be reached at 913.305.7181 or email me at haroldmitts@lakelotawana.net. Be safe! Harold
