10/10/2018 – Association News

The 2019 final budget is working its way through the process of approval by the Board of Directors.  Once approved by the board, we will send out ballots for the entire membership to vote on it at the full membership meeting on November 13th.  Once again, we expect there to be three ballots.  One is for the Annual Budget. This year’s balanced budget was accomplished without the need for an increase in dues.  Dues will stay the same as last year.  The Budget Committee is asking for a modest increase in license fees.  If approved, registrations for power boats, PWCs, golf carts, trailer storage stickers and annual dock licenses will go up $15 each.  We are hoping to maintain the $25 annual registration fees for non-power boats. There will be a ballot for the Roads Reserve Fund Special Assessment. We need to start more aggressively saving for the inevitable expense of resurfacing our road.  The third ballot will be for a special assessment for the Capitol Improvement Fund.  This fund will go towards much needed upgrades to the Association docks at the dam.  It looks like for most folks, life here at Lotawana will cost less than it did last year (unless you have about 20 power boats to sticker.)  Plan now to attend the Annual Budget Meeting on Tuesday night November 13th where we will recap the 2018 Association financials and explain our plans for the 2019 budget year.  Ballots will be going out about the time you’re reading this column.  You can mail in or drop off your ballots at the Association office or vote them in person at the meeting.

As I write this, the dredge is finally being put back into the Lake.  It’s been a challenging summer without Monte to ramrod the process.  John is looking forward to learning all about operating “The Judy B.”  We’ll have a short dredging season this year but, we’ll be ready to hit the ground running next spring.  Thanks to everyone for all your patience.
